Why do we argue over the little thing in our relationships? At times we are so blinded by the petty incidents in our relationships that we cannot see they are tearing us apart.

Notice the title, "Put the toilet seat down...," is symbolic of the little arguments men and women have in their relationships.  The ellipses following the title represents the part of the phrase that is left out, "...when you are done."  

To the brothas:

We as men have to take this statement to heart in the sense that we should accommodate to our women without de-masculating ourselves.  We are at the point in life where we are no longer children and should realize how to treat our significant others with out letting them run our life. 

So lift up the toilet seat: handle your business, be a man.
Put down the toilet seat: when you are finished: realize if you want the relationship to work you're going to have to have your lady's best interest at heart.  As much as you want her to be there for you and support you she wants the same.  I know sometimes it might be a hassle but if you want to avoid future arguments you have to go out of your way and be flexible.

To the sistas:

Ladies we are men we make mistakes. But at the same time you have to breath easy when situations that can be ignored with no repercussions come up.

Pay attention!!!... Look before you sit... Then put the toilet seat down yourself: So many petty arguments can be avoided if you analyze the situation before deeming it necessary to complain about.  If you want attention from your man take it, that way if he gives it you you're straight, if he doesn't then you see the bigger problem in your relationship and you can address it. So instead of complaining about getting attention and causing an easily avoidable argument that may not be relevant to bettering you relationship take it upon yourself to solve the problem.

Final words:

What this topic really comes down to is prioritizing.  Brothas you have to realize which is more important your girl or Madden.  If  you are playing Madden and you see your girl is begging for some much needed attention pause the game (if your playing by yourself because you  can get back to it) put the controller down and acknowledge her existence. Sistas you have to realize what's more important your relationship or getting your point across.  If your man is playing Madden and you need attention let him know what is bothering you, don't blow up.
